How do you Save Office 365 Credentials in Office 2016 for the Mac?

Issue: You cannot save Office 365 credentials in Office 2016 for Mac applications due to the Identity confirmation window not allowing you to choose “Always Allow” or “Allow”. You are forced to choose “Deny” which then does not save the user credentials in the Apple Keychain.

Solution: Boot to safe mode and then launch each Office 2016 application. It should allow the user to then select “Allow” to save the user credentials.

  • • The easiest way to boot to safe mode on a Mac is:
    • o Reboot computer and when you hear the startup sound hold the Shift key.
    • o To return to normal operation, reboot the computer and don’t hold any keys down.

Side-Note: The keychain first-aid feature was removed in the El Capitan release for Macs.
